Rumours: iPhone Application Key Leaked
There have been many rumours flying around the internet that the iPhone application key has been leaked.
What does this mean to the rest of us? Since all iPhone applications must be properly signed for iTunes to process them and for the iPhone to load them, this key suggests that hackers are closer to creating compliant IPA application bundles for home-brew iTunes distribution. With the proper key, developers can create and distribute applications that load through iTunes without Apple’s blessing.
This might just be nothing for now since the SDK is right around the corner, but for the developers that don’t want to play with Apple; you might just be able to install their software without jailbreaking your iPhone or touch soon.
