The ribbon interface is back, Libraries instead of My Documents, a simplified Start Menu, fewer UAC (User Account Control) alerts, and what seems to be [...]

Outside – MMORPG of the year

Why spend the monthly charges on those expensive MMORPGs when you have “Oustide” which is free and possibly the MMORPG of the year.
All the features are so true too. Fully PvP rawr! The penalty of death sucks though – if you thought the experience point penalty in EverQuest was bad, think again

Scripting is baaaad

So, on Monday I reported on why you shouldn’t allow Flash on your network with the article: Nmap 127.0.0.1: Flash Style . Kind of hinting toward how a malicious site could scan your internal network without triggering your firewall, IPS/IDS, or sometimes even a host based firewall/ips. Today, I have a new threat that is [...]

Nmap 127.0.0.1: Flash style

A design flaw found in ActionScript (Flash) has been allowed the scanning hosts via trial and error. Whenever a port is queried by Flash that isn’t open, it responds with a “SecurityErrotEvent” instantly. But, when a port is open, it doesn’t get that response for an extended period of time, while it waits for a [...]
