iPhone Backgrounder – Multitasking For Your iPhone

Here’s a great app if you current run a jailbroken iPhone of iPod Touch. iPhone Backgrounder brings some much needed functionality that Apple doesn’t want to allow; the ability to run processes in the background.

After installing the App, hold down the home button on the app you want to preserve and it will keep running in the background until you tell it to stop with another home button press. You can also add some XML code and have an application run in the background by default, a neat trick for keeping IM apps open while you do something else.

There are some bugs in the app that still need to be worked out, but if you are willing to put up with them then you can grab the app via Cydia.
