iCube iRec – Direct Video Recording to your iPod

I’ve mentioned in the past about how I love my iPod Video while I’m on the road. It’s a one-stop source of entertainment for those lonely nights in hotel rooms. One of the downsides to getting video on the darn thing (apart from purchasing it from iTunes, which isn’t available up here in Canada) is the amount of time you spend converting the video over using something like VisualHub.

Now there’s no need for a computer when it comes to getting videos on your iPod. MacWay’s iCube iRec lets you connect an analog video source (VCR, DVD Player, Cable Box, etc.) to it at a touch of a button it will convert and record the video directly to the iPod. You can also tweak your settings to maximize the quality or minimize the size of the file.

    Can anyone help me please?

I bought an iRec about 18 months ago. I have an Apple Mac computer OS 10.4.

As the set up program which came with iRec was for a PC, I was sent a download “irec_setup_v1.3.dmg” for my Mac.

The download worked very successfully with my 80 GB iPod, but that iPod has now broken, and I have replaced it with a 160GB iPod Classic.

I cannot get this new iPod to record via my iRec using the original download. I have downloaded another copy of “irec_setup_v1.3.dmg”.

Every time I connect the 160GB iPod to my iRec the REC/STOP button lights up in orange after first flashing green. I am absolutely sure that my iPod and iRec are properly connected.

The downloaded manual only refers to a PC.

Have any separate instructions for a Mac computer?

Have you got a solution to my problems?

    Kind regards
