Apple Entering The Gaming Market?

On February 5th of this year, Apple filed to protect and amend their trademark in relation to “hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games”.

Could this mean that Apple is getting into the handheld gaming business or is this a simple extension of their patent to cover gaming on their iPods? Remember that Apple posted a job in September of last year for a “Game Producer/Designer”. This too might just be for the iPod line of games, or it might be their continuing effort to take over the world.
