Use IR LEDs To Defeat Security Cameras

Here’s a neat trick that will always make sure that your face stays off those pesky public cameras. Mount an bunch of IR LEDs on you, possible in the brim of your hat. These will produce a powerful white light that won’t be seen by people passing by but will blind those pesky pubic cameras that invade your privacy.

probly would only work if the LED was pointed directly at the camera, and could easily be filtered out if so desired by the camera manufacturer

Yep, but how would they upgrade / replace thousands of cameras in use. Agree on the pointing thing though.

yep. You would need an array of IR LEDs or at least something with a wide angle.
Worth trying though. Just having a few high power ones aimed the right way should be enough to obscure your image.

what have you lot been up 2

well if you dont want to be seen by cameras your probably going to be doing something illegal and if you are then you could just use an infra-red torch and hold it in front of you while pointing it at the camera.

You could simply frost the LED bulb with medium-high grit sandpaper. I’ve done it to disperse the light on white LEDs, and it works.

    It is rather time-consuming though
