Homebrew Flashlight As Powerful As A Star
Interested in lighting up your own soccer field? Why not send morse code to any visiting aliens with The “MaxBlaster”. A 38 million candle power flashlight that is just as powerful as a miniature star when seen from a distance. Dutch optics engineer Ralf Ottow started the project by taking apart a commercial flashlight, inserting a mercury arc bulb, and added a custom designed reflector to the mix. I’m no engineer, but I’m sure this puppy will blind you or at the very least burn you if you get too close.
