Rocking out with the Yoshida Brothers

In my household we love our Wii to death, so much that when one of those “Wii want to play” commercials hits the TV is makes us want to turn the Wii on and have some fun.

Yesterday when that very same commercial hit the air and my wife proceeded to hum the track of the commercial. I began to wonder what instrument was used to create such a catchy and fascinating sound. Low and behold, thanks to the miracle of the Internets, I found that the sound was created by the Japanese sensation Yosida Brothers who play the traditional 3-string instrument called a Tsugaru-Shamisen. Now that I’ve stumbled onto them I just can’t get enough of them.
